Where To Buy Xbox 360 Elite Winter 2009 Lego Batman / Pure Bundle

Get this bundle…

If you are looking to buy an Xbox 306.. do yourself a favor and buy this bundle. Not only does it come with two games (which are not system sellers but a good addition) it also comes with 120 GB hard drive and a HDMI slot. It also comes with a wireless controller and a wired headset. These are all great additions to the system. Considering that Amazon is now bundling a $50 gift card with every purchase, this item is a steal in my opinion. If you are planning to buy an Xbox, spend the additional $100 and buy this system. You will not regret it.
Now, let me get to the rants. No WIRELESS!! Seriously Microsoft, this is not 2006. You cannot ask people to buy a $70 wireless adapter in 2010 when both Wii and PS3 have it built in to their systems.
No HD cables. I understand most people still have SDTVs. The included cables can only output 480p. Most games on Xbox don’t even support this mode anymore. Sure, the graphics are fine but you will end up with having to deal with blurry text in most games if you are playing with the standard cables shipped with Xbox. I suggest you get the HD cables from Microsoft for another $25 or so.
Paying for Xbox live gold. The Wii online service and PS3 online service are both free. However, Xbox live is about $40 per year (usually $50). You will get a month of Xbox live trial gold with a purchase of this system. You will need it to stream Netflix movies, access Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm. The silver account is free but it is as good as not having an online service at all. (My suggestion is to snag it on ebay for $30 or less). There is also no browser like Wii or PS3.
Other than the three things mentioned above, Xbox is a great system to play games. It already has a lot of great games to play. Most of them are available as Platinum Hits for a $20-$30 price range (about half as much as they initially sold for). There are also great new games like Dragon Age, Mass effect, Final Fantasy. Many more new games are coming this year including Microsoft’s motion controller Project Natal. You will have ton of games to play. I will not compare it to PS3 as I do not own one. Comparing it to Wii (which I do own) will not do justice for either of them. They are both catered to different kinds of gamers.

Now that they’re not frying, they’re great!

I’m no fan of Microsoft, but now that these things aren’t frying this console is a nice purchase. If you’ve got a 150w power supply brick, yours was made w/ a jasper chip and has a 99.9% chance of not getting the infamous 3 red rings of death(which are covered by warranty btw). Tests have shown it runs about 20 degrees cooler and the power supplies went from 203w, then 175w, now 150w. Check the dates of the poor reviews. These people have older versions(although I don’t blame them for being ticked). It’s slightly quieter, and you can always download games and play them from the hard drive for an ultra-quiet performance(unfortunately you still have to have the disc in). It has 120gb of memory, so there’s plenty of room for your music, games, and Xbox Live purchases. The black is much a needed change from the cheap-crap looking white console. Most electronics are of the black variety now(TV’s, Blu-ray dvd players, receivers, DVR’s, etc.). It’s too bad they couldn’t figure out it’s supposed to be glossy black like the previously mentioned components(what’d you expect, it’s Microsoft). I searched the net and found a glossy black face-plate to put on it. Took 30 seconds to put it on, and bam! It looks hot and fits right in w/ my other glossy black components. This new bundle version doesn’t come w/ the HDMI cable which you’ll definitely want to use. It’s the highest quality digital connection available. To not use it would be equivalent to using a cassette instead of an Ipod. You can get an HDMI cable for the 360 for about $4 on the net(try Monoprice). Many stores are now taking old consoles for trade-in. Mine was a 20gb HDMI version and they gave me $98 for it! I even traded in the 2 games that came w/ it for credit. Between that and the old headsets, controllers, and games I was no longer using, I had a $148 credit. So if you need the hard drive space or you gotta have the black, try trading-in and reduce your costs. BTW, don’t forget to order the data migration transfer kit if you’re replacing an old 360 w/ this one. YOU CAN ONLY BUY IT FROM XBOX LIVE. It’s not sold in stores. I tried to buy it from the Microsoft store online and it wouldn’t work w/ 2 different credit cards. Then I tried it on the phone w/ a rep and it still didn’t work. Finally I called Xbox Live and placed the order. If that doesn’t sound like typical Microsoft i don’t know what does. They don’t even ship it ’til a few days after you place the order, and they ship it 8-day delivery thru FedEx. They don’t even allow you to upgrade the shipping for extra $. Again, typical Microsoft. After taking 1hr to to the data transfer, you’re rockin’ your new Elite!
